Age Policy — 18+ Only

Waves is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. This policy explains our age requirement and our zero-tolerance approach to minors on the platform. It forms part of, and should be read with, our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

1. You must be 18 or older

To create an account or use any part of the Service, you must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction if that is higher. There are no exceptions.

2. Age confirmation at sign-up

When you join, you must confirm that you are 18 or older. Providing a false age is a violation of our Terms of Use and will result in removal from the platform.

3. Identity verification

Waves verifies members with a live selfie and short liveness video reviewed against their profile photos. This helps confirm that members are real adults and supports the integrity of our community. Verification is not a foolproof age check, and we may take additional steps where we have reason to doubt a member's age.

4. Zero tolerance for minors and child sexual abuse material (CSAM)

We have zero tolerance for:

  • Anyone under 18 using the Service;
  • Any content that sexualises, exploits, or endangers a minor; and
  • Any attempt to use the Service to contact, groom, or harm a minor.

Child sexual abuse material is illegal. We remove it immediately, terminate the responsible accounts, preserve relevant evidence, and report to law enforcement and the appropriate authorities (including, where applicable, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) and international bodies such as NCMEC).

5. Reporting underage users or harmful content

If you believe someone on Waves is under 18, or you encounter content that exploits a minor, report it immediately:

We act on every credible report.

6. Enforcement

Accounts found to belong to minors, or used to harm minors, are permanently banned. We may block associated devices and identifiers and refuse re-registration. We cooperate fully with lawful investigations.

7. A note for parents and guardians

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has created an account, contact safety@meetbywave.com and we will remove it. We encourage families to use device-level parental controls to help keep minors off adult platforms.
